The natural barrier offered by the height of Mount Amiata in the south-east side and of Poggio d’Arna in the south-west, as well as the Orcia river and the marine breeze rising up from its valley give this place a unique microclimate, particularly well-suited to viticulture.

Uccelliera has ten hectares of vineyards almost entirely dedicated to Sangiovese, made up of vines between 5 and 45 years old, grown on sandy loam with noticeable presence of crumbled fossils at an average altitude of 150, 250 and 350 meters a.s.l. in the zone of Castelnuovo dell’Abate.

The agronomic practices follow the principles of a sustainable agriculture and are guided by nature, so that crops manifest the character of each diverse growing season.

The direction of the rows, the constant and attentive manual care of the vineyard to maintain a balanced growth and a regular thinning of the bunches contribute to the production of grapes that are perfectly ripe, healthy and fragrant all essential requirements for a balanced wine, rich in structure, suitable for brief and long ageing.
